default Introduce Yourself

Post by Fanfare on November 17th 2009, 1:24 am

I thought I would start this and see who we have here:

Tell us a few things about yourself! What kind of creatures do you keep? How long have you been in the hobby? How did you get into it? Or whatever else you wish to tell!

I have been keeping inverts for about two years now. I started with cockroaches and have moved up to Tarantulas this summer. I have not kept any Reptiles or Amphibians yet, but my nephew has been showing interest in frogs and geckos, so they will likely be soon in coming. I currently have four tarantulas: a female G. rosea, and three unsexed slings, a B. smithi; a B. emilia; and a L. parahybana. I am hoping to add to my little collection in the spring. I raise train and show American Saddlebred horses with my family. They are an all consuming hobby and business, but one that is very fulfilling.

I would like to hear more about you!

I love both reptiles and inverts. Ive owned Tarantulas of all sorts, Beardies, Geckos and Snakes. Ive been into reptiles since I was a kid however I no longer own any reptiles. I have been an avid Tarantula hobbiest for many years, stopped for a while while in the service, and am getting back into it. I work fire & rescue so T's are a better match for me as I do not have time for dogs or cats. Not to mention I like to be different! Very Happy
I like to educate people on T's and show children at elementary schools. I will get back into that as my hobby expands again. Im lookin to meet other interested people who would like to discuss the hobby, and even maybe team up when my T's mature, for mating and redistribution into the hobby.
Right now a big goal is to mate the P. Metallica and make them more readily available to the hobbiest as it can be difficult to obtain them. I believe them to be the most beautiful of teh hobby and that everyone init should have the chance to own one! Hence my avatar.

Cheers!

Hi I'm Ecks. I used to run a reptile rescue program in Las Vegas NV and have worked with just about any animals since i was born i was raised on a ranch in Vegas. From studies and research i've worked with many venomous reptiles. I am currently looking to get back into breeding large snakes. I currently have two retics and looking for an adult female tiger or super tiger. I love snakes and learning about them so hopefully i will meet or hear from some insightful people and do some business as well.

hey I'm John I co-own A&R Pythons. We are located in Berea, KY so hopefully we will be a regular vendor at the show. We mostly work with ball pythons but are thinking of branching into bloods as well.

Hello, my name is David Absher. I am the Lexington Reptile Expo show promoter and co-owner of EKy Reptile Supplies LLC. in Morehead, KY. My wife and I started EKy Reptile Supplies back in 2007. We currently breed ball pythons, leopard geckos and bearded dragons. We will be starting several other breeding projects as the year progresses. I look forward in meeting everyone at the show, stop by our tables and say hi. I really would like to thank everyone for making the January 24th show a huge success.

Thank You,
David Absher

I guess I never formally introduced myself. So I'll go ahead and do that. My name is Rob. I am a reptile/invert hobbyist and a big tarantula enthusiast.

I just recently got out of the Army so now I have plenty of time to devote to my T's and my green iguana. My favorite part about tarantulas is designing their enclosures (with backdrops, plants, hides, etc.) Otherwise, I am getting ready to go to school to become an IT professional.

I've never been to a reptile expo yet, but I aspire to go to the March 21st one in Lexington. I can't wait. Glad to be here.
