I am happy too! I am really looking forward to attending. I hope there are many vendors and many in attendance.

Thank you for your support, we will do everything we can possible to make this one of the best Reptile Shows around here. We need your help and support to make this happen. Please pass on the word about the show. If you would be willing to pass out fliers please let us know and we will send some to you. We want to also welcome you to attend the Shelbyville Pet and Reptile Expo as well as the South Central Kentucky Reptile Breeders Expo. Links to both are on the Lexington Reptile Expo Site.

We stood back and waited on a decision from Eastern Kentucky Expos on the status on the Morehead Show. Nothing was ever said. We wanted to hear confirmation if it was going to continue or end as the rumors stated. We than listened to all the complaints over another show. We decided we had heard enough, and it was time to act. We asked around on the thought of starting a new show, many wanted us to take over the Morehead Show or just start a new one. We felt the the negative impact was already made in Morehead. We wanted a new location that could accommodate our ideal of a great show. We was looking at space (room to grow), area attractions, restaurants and access to the area. With the Lexington Convention Center it met all. Room to grow (over 100,000 sq.feet), food court with many restaurants, Many attractions in the Convention Center itself as well as around it. As for access to the center, I-75, I-64 and the Bluegrass Parkway. Lexington is a short drive from many surrounding states and cities. We feel that Lexington has the potential to be great show. We have many big vendors sitting back waiting to see how the first show goes before they will commit. Please continue showing your support and lets make this happen.

Thank You,
David

We look forward in seeing you at the show in January. If you have any thoughts or opinions on the show please feel free to voice them. Without you there would be no show, it takes you to make it happen.

I wonder if there was a way convince the bigger vendors to come regardless. Maybe will less stock, or if offered a competitive rate.

Afterall, you get nothing done by sitting back and watching. I do understand that they wish to make the trip profitable and worth the time to come, and if turnout is less than expected they might now be happy enough to return. But the more vendors you can get might entice those from farther out to come the next time.

But you also want the crowd to return as well and for them to tell their friends. I attended a local "Reptile Expo" which was just one man with a few snakes, some geckos, and some rose hairs. If the Expo is held again, and it is just this one man, I know what to expect and likely won't go, unless circumstances call for me getting a Leopard Gecko for a decent price.

I would be willing to put fliers out at my LPS. They know and like me there, and I am sure would be willing to let me. I also know of a few very public bulletin boards around my town. Colleges would be a good spot to promote at. I wonder if the PetsMarts in Nicholasville and Hamburg would allow fliers to be put up?

ETA: When it gets a little closer, I would be happy to post the info on the Arachnoboards forum.

I totally agree with you on the vendor aspect. Sitting around waiting will not make a thing happen, it takes the vendors to get the customers, as well as customers to get the vendors. One thing could help get the larger name vendors at the expo is for the customers to call/email and request/suggest them to vend at the expo. Let them see how many are interested in their products/services. Get their attention, let them see the benefit of vending the expo. Myself as a show promoter will continue to call/email and send letters to try to get them here as well. There is a few of them that stated this was their off season from shows and would most likely be able to do the March show. For example BHB.

Private message me where to send some fliers to and I will send them out.

Once again, please feel free to voice your opinions. This is not just one persons show, it belongs to all of us (customers and vendors).

David

So, what can be seen at this expo? Is there anything "exotic", or is it just row on row of Leopard Geckos, Ball Pythons, Corn Snakes, Iguanas, and Rose Hair Ts?

As I am more of an invert person, are there any vendors there that would be a draw for me, and other Arachnid Enthusiasts? People that would offer more than G. rosea and B. vagans.

Is there a Facebook Group for the Expo? That could be a way to stir interest.

I am going to post the links to this site, the LRE Homepage, and show dates in my Arachnoboards signature if that is okay?

I am very pleased to see that someone took the leap and started a show in Lexington as well. This show will be a 20 minute drive for me. I really did not like the drive to Louisville every month. Maybe this show will stick around. We need at least one good show in this state. Can't wait till the show, should be a blast.

I thought the show had a great turnout yesterday, especially how the odds were stacked against us. All the customers as well as vendors were very happy and pleased with the turnout. I was busy yesterday meeting and talking to many pet store owners, they loved the show as well and many are looking forward in becoming a vendor. I can't wait till March. If anyone has any questions, concerns, suggestions or comments please feel free to email us at: customerservice@lexingtonreptileexpo.com
